Imo there's a big difference speaking a language and reading or writing in it. Speaking is an active process and reading (or watching movies) is kinda passive. I think I have learned a lot from reading (web/books) and I consider my understanding of english good, but I don't consider myself a good english speaker and I have nearly zero speaking experience (school doesn't count).

Reading>listening>writing>speaking imo.

I realized I suck at speaking when I had to work with a latvian and her english was pretty good and I just fucked up a lot of sentences lol.
